Data Breach and Privacy Law: What Tennessee Attorneys Must Know - On-Demand

Webinar is now available on-demand.  NOTE: On-Demand webinars are not eligible for CLE credit.

Are you ready to help your clients handle the legal fallout from a cyberattack or data breach that results in the release of sensitive corporate or customer information? The Tennessee legislature just passed a bill tightening Tennessee's law regarding breach notification requirements to protect customers. Are you prepared to advise your clients about this and other state and federal law requirements?

According to the Credit Union National Association, it is estimated that the 2013 Target breach cost credit unions over $30 million and the 2014 Home Depot breach cost even more. These costs include notifying customers of the breach, reissuing credit and debit cards, closing and reopening member accounts, refunding fraudulent charges, stopping and blocking payments, and increasing fraud monitoring.

From data breaches at major retailers affecting millions of consumers to the monitoring of cybersecurity by the Federal Trade Commission, attorneys need to be aware of the issues that are surfacing and the legal challenges now being mounted in this area of the law.

Join your colleagues for an engaging and enlightening discussion of the changes coming and how to best help clients overcome problems as soon as they arise. Your presenter will provide a general overview of key developments in data breach and privacy law, will discuss cybersecurity threats, and offer practical suggestions on implementing data security initiatives.
