Lawyers must play by the rules. If you don’t know the rules, your opponent may be able to get the upper hand. On the other hand, if you know the rules, you can use them to your advantage. You can better serve your clients, while saving time and money.

For example, utilizing the rules to the maximum may allow you to gain the dismissal of some claims or defenses, freeing your time to concentrate on fewer claims or defenses. Effective use of discovery can also narrow the issues and aid you in proving your case or defeating your opponent’s case.
