NASHVILLE, TN, October 27, 2003 — Daniel M. Oswald has been named President & Associate Publisher of M. Lee Smith Publishers LLC of Nashville, effective November 3, 2003. Oswald, who since 1996 has served as President of Chicago-based corporate newsletter publisher Lawrence Ragan Communications, Inc., also has an option to purchase the company, said M. Lee Smith, the company's founder and owner for the past 29 years.
"The plan is for Dan to join our company this fall, to become the chief executive after a brief transition period, and then to purchase the company from me within another year or so," Smith said. "This will allow for the orderly transition of M. Lee Smith Publishers to new ownership under the talented leadership of Dan Oswald, an experienced, very capable, highly respected executive in the newsletter and corporate communications industry."

During his tenure as President of Lawrence Ragan Communications, Inc. (January 1996 to the present), revenues of the Chicago-based newsletter and conference company more than doubled, establishing Oswald as one of the premier executives in the newsletter and corporate communications industries.
