"2005 Oklahoma Employers Workshop" to Show Tulsa and Oklahoma City Employers How to Avoid Expensive Lawsuits

Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, L.L.P., attorneys to reveal practical tips for complying with the latest state and federal employment laws

TULSA, OK, May 3, 2005 - For Oklahoma employers, the legal landscape has never been more treacherous. According to 'USA Today,' more than 150,000 U.S. employers are now battered by employment-related lawsuits. Even worse, two of three cases that go to trial are now won by the employee, against the employer, with the average damages exceeding $250,000.

To help Oklahoma employers protect themselves in this dangerous environment, the Tulsa-based law firm of Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, L.L.P., will present "2005 Oklahoma Employers Workshop: Dealing with New Challenges in the Workplace" in Tulsa on Tuesday, May 10 at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center, and in Oklahoma City on Thursday, May 12 at the Oklahoma City Marriott. The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Two of the key speakers at the workshop-Charles S. Plumb and Audra K. Hamilton-are attorneys from Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, L.L.P., and editors of the popular monthly newsletter 'Oklahoma Employment Law Letter,' published by M. Lee Smith Publishers LLC.

By attending "2005 Oklahoma Employers Workshop," local CEO's, business owners, HR professionals, managers, and corporate counsel will learn how to dramatically improve their chances of avoiding workplace-related lawsuits and other forms of legal liability. Each of the five sessions in the program will provide practical tips and proactive steps employers can immediately apply to their organizations.

Sessions will include:

· 'How to Hire' . . . offering insightful tips for legally finding, screening, and hiring the best-possible workforce.

· 'Alphabet Soup' . . . providing a close-up look at FMLA, the ADA, and Workers Comp/Disability. The session will examine crucial disability and medical-leave issues arising in the workplace and effective employer strategies for dealing with each.

· 'Get Smart' …spotlighting how employers can best benefit from today's technology.

· 'When Employees Leave' . . . examining what employers' legal responsibilities are when employees resign, are terminated, or disappear. Specific attention will be paid to employers' responsibilities for the payment of wages and benefits, including an in-depth look at COBRA.

· 'Employment Rights of Returning Military Personnel' . . . covering what an employer should do when former employees return from tours of duty. The rights of disabled veterans also will be specifically examined.

For registration information, please call Betsy Moore at (918) 591-5344.
