Cyber-Theft and Data Breaches: What to Do When Your Tennessee Client is Hacked - On-Demand
Webinar is now available on-demand.
WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Learn how to counsel clients facing a data breach or cyber attack.
Are your Tennessee corporate clients prepared to respond to a data breach or cyber-theft? Hardly a week passes without news of yet another security breakdown, with hundreds of millions of financial, social media, e-mail, customer account, and medical records affected this year alone.
Like 47 other states with data breach notification laws, Tennessee has not ignored these alarming developments. In 2016, Tennessee amended its data breach law with some controversy and then retracted the crux of those modifications a year later, enacting the current amendment to restore the encryption safe harbor and alleviate the risk that a company would need to disclose a breach before being able to investigate and remediate it.
But the potential liability is very real. Your clients should expect one day to be a victim of a cyber attack. So it’s just as important to be prepared for the legal fallout from a breach as it is to defend against one. Use this valuable webinar on-demand to review steps you should take when it happens to a client. Your presenter will provide use-it-now guidance for responding to this increasingly common problem.
- Investigation and remediation
- Determining what law applies and what applicable law requires
- Notice obligations
- Insurance considerations
- Claims and defenses in data breach cases
