When you participate in this all-new CLE approved live event, you'll learn from Paul Hayes of Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, an attorney experienced in asset protection planning, how to take advantage of TISTs for your clients.
In just 60 minutes, Mr. Hayes will:
- Review the specifics of the Tennessee self-settled trust legislation;
- Review the extension of the rule against perpetuities;
- Analyze income, gift, estate and generation skipping tax implications of creating a Tennessee self-settled trust;
- Identify potential applications and planning opportunities; and
- Provide you with drafting pointers with sample clauses.
PLUS: You’ll get a case study that will provide you with a comparative analysis for determining whether use of the self-settled trust or traditional asset protection is preferable.
You need to be familiar with key provisions of the 2007 Tennessee Investment Services Act (TISA) in order to:
- Allow wealthy clients to protect a reasonable portion of their wealth
- Protect clients from exposure to liability
- Protect clients with spendthrift tendencies or clients who have children with spendthrift tendencies
